Professorial Research Fellow
College of Medicine and Public Health
I am a public health social scientist and have an overarching interest in health inequities, in particular multidisciplinary and multimethod approaches to understanding the social determinants of health. My main focus more recently has been on the social determinants of migrant and refugee health and wellbeing.
This research has spanned an examination of housing and neighbourhood, stigma and discrimination, immigration precarity, social capital and social inclusion, employment, education, regional resettlement, family and domestic violence, HIV, disability, stillbirth, and access to primary, oral and maternal health care.
I have a strong commitment to applied multidisciplinary research and participatory methodologies, and work closely with a broad range of community, non-government and government organisations.
I am a co-convenor of the Migrant and Refugee Research Network (MARRNet).
