Dr Damian Hussey, BSc(Hons; 1994), PhD (2000) leads laboratory research programs in the areas of Upper Gastrointestinal Disease, and ENT Diseases including head and neck cancers. He provides principal direction for laboratory studies pertinent to Barrett’s oesophagus and the development of oesophageal cancer, including the identification of biomarkers for discrimination of non-malignant and malignant oesophageal disease, and the use of biomarkers for assessing response to treatments for Barrett’s oesophagus and oesophageal cancer. Dr Hussey is developing blood tests for Gastrointestinal and Head and Neck cancers, and is profiling cancers from other anatomical sites using these tests.
