Janny Maddern's most recent academic leadership role was as Associate Dean and Head of Flinders Health Care and Workforce Innovation, one of 5 academic units in the School of Medicine. Concurrently she held the position of Head of Health Care Management and coordinator of all domestic postgraduate health care administration courses.

Janny has a career spanning professional practice as a speech pathologist, allied health leader and department manager in the health sector as well as leadership of postgraduate academic programs and academic units in universities. She has wide ranging education experience in Australia and overseas, with a special interest in the use of action learning methods for developing the capabilities of health care leaders and managers. Her research and education interests have included health care management, the roles and careers of health service managers, workforce issues and action learning methods.
