Professor Gebbie was named Joan Grabe Dean at Hunter in September of 2009. She served for 14 years as Elizabeth Standish Gill Professor of Nursing and Director, Center for Health Policy at Columbia University School of Nursing where she led multiple research projects related to emergency preparedness, competency-based education, public health practice and nursing. Professor Gebbie is widely published in nursing, public health and policy journals.

Key responsibilities
Supervision of PhD and Honours students interested in disaster-related topics and competency-based education; research in the same areas at the Torrens Resilience Institute.
Teaching interests

Dr. Gebbie gives occasional invited lectures on topics such as disaster and emergency preparedness, resilience, public health nursing and competency development.
