Before coming to Flinders University in 1992, I had a twenty year career in the South Australian Department of Education and Children's Services in a range of roles including classroom teaching (mainly secondary), faculty coordination, curriculum advising for the disadvantaged country areas programme and in educational psychology. I am now Emeritus Professor in the College of Education, Psychology and Social work. I currently coordinate a researcher exchange programme between the Flinders Educational Research Institute and the Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences and I have a Visiting Professor position at East China Normal University in Shanghai.
Within the Faculty of Education, Humanities and Law, I served a five year term as Associate Head (Teaching and Learning) and a term as Director of the Flinders Educational Futures Research Institute (FEFRI). Within the School of Education, I have had administrative experience as School Dean, Associate Dean (Academic), Associate Dean (Research), Bachelor of Education course coordination and I have served on the University Senate and the Student Appeals Committee. My community professional service includes a three year period as the tertiary representative on the South Australian Teachers Registration Board.
